Adam Schiff, a U.S. Congressman representing California's 30th district since 2001, has expressed strong opposition to the confirmation of Kash Patel as FBI Director through a series of tweets. Schiff, who has been an influential figure in Congress and previously served in the California Senate, is known for his legal background with degrees from Stanford University and Harvard University.

On February 20, 2025, Schiff posted a tweet criticizing Kash Patel's qualifications for the role of FBI Director. He stated that "Kash Patel can't do the job of FBI Director. He's patently unqualified." He further warned that those voting for Patel's confirmation would be responsible for any harm caused to the nation's top law enforcement agency and the rule of law.

Later that day, Schiff announced his intention to address his colleagues on the Senate floor regarding Patel's confirmation. In his tweet at 18:03 UTC, he urged followers to tune in as he prepared to deliver what he described as a final warning: "I'm headed to the Senate floor to deliver a final warning to my colleagues about confirming Kash Patel."

Earlier in the morning, Schiff joined other members of Congress outside FBI headquarters to voice their concerns publicly. He emphasized their stance against appointing someone they believe would prioritize political retribution over addressing violent crime. In this context, he tweeted: "This morning, my colleagues and I stood in front of FBI headquarters...Kash Patel would be a disaster as FBI Director."
