Adam Schiff, a U.S. Congressman representing California's 30th district since 2001, has recently expressed his views on social media regarding national defense and international human rights issues. Schiff, who holds degrees from Stanford University and Harvard University, shared his opinions in a series of tweets.

On January 24, 2025, Schiff criticized Pete Hegseth as a nominee for Secretary of Defense. He stated, "We deserve a Secretary of Defense with solid experience, sound judgment, and good character. Pete Hegseth does not meet the test." He announced his intention to address the Senate floor regarding this nomination.

Later that day, Schiff reiterated his concerns about Hegseth's suitability for the role by emphasizing the importance of character. He tweeted at 23:49 UTC, "Character matters. It does. And no amount of tough talk on TV can make up for Pete Hegseth's distinct lack of character."

On January 25, 2025, Schiff turned his attention to international affairs by highlighting human rights issues in Azerbaijan. At 14:47 UTC he tweeted about the situation involving Armenian political prisoners facing closed-door trials without due process or press access. Schiff urged action from the U.S. State Department by stating "It's time for @StateDept to hold the Azeri regime accountable for its human rights violations."
