On December 2, 2024, Schiff expressed strong opposition to the potential appointment of Kash Patel as FBI Director. He stated that "Kash Patel has publicly called for arresting members of the media and government officials." Schiff further criticized Patel's willingness to comply with former President Trump's demands without regard for legality or ethics, concluding that the Senate should reject Patel's nomination.

Three days later, on December 5, 2024, Schiff praised Senator Butler for her service to California. He noted that "Senator Butler has served California with great effectiveness, passion and dedication."
