University of California President Michael V. Drake, M.D., made the following statement today (Feb. 25), about the California appeals court ruling on People’s Park:

We are deeply disappointed by the court’s ruling, and will be supporting the Berkeley campus as we appeal this decision.  Affordable housing for our students is essential to their success, and we remain committed to working with the governor, the legislature, and local leaders to find solutions that protect the environment, respect our campus neighbors, and provide housing options that work for our students.
