On December 6, Adam Schiff announced via Twitter that he had cast his last vote as a member of the House of Representatives. He expressed gratitude to his constituents and looked forward to future opportunities to work with them: "I just cast my last vote as a member of the House of Representatives. To my LA constituents — thank you for the amazing opportunity to serve. And to the people of the whole state of CA, I’m so grateful for your confidence and look forward to all we can get done together!"
Two days later, on December 8, Schiff tweeted about his opposition to former President Trump’s actions during his presidency and subsequent attempts at overturning the 2020 election results: "When Trump violated his oath, I stood up to him. When he tried to overturn the 2020 election, the January 6th Committee stood in defense of our democracy. Threats to jail us will not deter us. Nothing will stop me from doing my duty to the American people."
Continuing this theme on December 9, Schiff addressed Trump's alleged threats and their broader implications: "There’s an important goal behind Trump’s threats. It’s not just about retribution. It’s about sending a message to anyone who would dare to hold him to account."
