Mt. Bishop Road is closed just after the Technology Park buildings (No. 83) to the Beef Cattle Evaluation Center (No. 55). In addition, Mustang Shuttle will not be servicing the Poultry Science Instructional Center (No. 150) at Mt. Bishop and Stenner Creek roads for the remainder of the day.
Another atmospheric river is expected to impact San Luis Obispo County throughout the day on Tuesday, March 14. At this time, university leadership has determined that campus will remain open and classes, activities and campus operations will be held as scheduled.
Similar to last Friday, we recognize that some employees and students may experience storm-related travel delays or obstacles. Thank you in advance for continuing to practice flexibility and empathy with those who need extra time to get to campus.
Students should alert their faculty if they cannot attend class. Faculty are encouraged to exercise flexibility with students impacted by inclement weather.
Faculty members who are unable to travel to campus should communicate with their students. Supervisors are also encouraged to be understanding with employees who may have difficulty traveling to work and if appropriate, adjust work schedules or telecommuting.
We recognize that county school districts and other local employers may be announcing different plans, and we encourage employees to work with their supervisors if they are impacted.
Cal Poly’s Department of Emergency Management will continue to monitor the situation and will adjust as needed. Emergency alerts will be shared with the campus community via Poly Alert.
The San Luis Obispo area is expected to receive 2.5 to 4 inches of rain, with the heaviest rainfall expected between 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday. A wind advisory and high wind warning is in effect.
A flash flood warning is also in effect for San Luis Obispo County from 3 a.m. to 10 p.m. Please take precautions to keep yourself and others safe, monitor road conditions and plan your route accordingly.

The below information regards the previous atmospheric river that impacted campus on Friday, March 10.
The Cal Poly campus weathered Friday’s storm with minor impacts. Campus staff responded to leaks in one academic building, the Davidson Music Center (No. 45). Three student residents were evacuated from an ag housing facility after a culvert clogged near their residence, causing access issues.
In addition, Sports Complex Road temporarily closed, and has reopened. Stenner Creek and Poly Canyon roads remain closed. There were several road closures in the city of San Luis Obispo, including Tank Farm Road from Broad to Long streets, and Highway 101 on- and off-ramps at the Marsh Street intersection.
Classes, activities and campus operations were held as scheduled on Friday, with all community members urged to exercise flexibility with students and employees experiencing storm-related travel delays.
