The City of Burbank’s Community Development Department (CDD) in collaboration with the Information Technology Department (IT) has expanded online permit services to include re-roofing permits for residents. Additionally, CDD has announced a Pre-Approved Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Program.
Launched in October 2022, the Online Permit feature is available to all residents through the Citizen Access Portal (Portal). The Portal allows residents to easily apply for and obtain more than 15 permits such as plumbing, electrical, mechanical, building upgrades, repairs, and maintenance services saving them a visit to the City’s Community Services Building or an email to Building & Safety Division’s general inbox. The Portal can be accessed by clicking the following link: https://permit.burbankca.gov/CAP/
Furthermore, the City’s new Pre-Approved ADU Program will expedite the review of ADU applications and issuance of a building permit. In total, there are 12 pre-approved ADU project plans that have been selected for the program based upon design criteria compliance within the Burbank Municipal Code. Residents will have the option of selecting these pre-engineered plans for their ADU projects, accelerating the ADU review timeframe from 4-6 weeks to 2 weeks.
For more information regarding the Pre-Approved ADU Program, please visit https://www.burbankca.gov/web/community-development/pre-approved-adu.
Individuals who prefer to submit applications and requests in person, can visit the Community Services Building (150 N 3rd St, Burbank, CA 91502) Monday - Friday from 8:00 am to 11:30 am and 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
For any questions or concerns about the online permitting process or Pre-Approved ADU Program, please email building@burbankca.gov or contact the office at (818) 238-5220.
