Adam Schiff, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 30th district since 2001, has recently shared his thoughts on several pressing issues via social media. Schiff, who succeeded James E. Rogan in 2001 and previously served in the California Senate from 1996 to 2000, is known for his active engagement with constituents and policy matters.
On May 21, 2025, Schiff expressed concerns about legislative actions by Republicans in the Senate. He stated that “California has a right to protect its own people. From dirty air and dirty water.” He criticized efforts to repeal California’s ability to set its environmental policies and warned that eliminating the filibuster for this purpose would be a decision Republicans might regret.
In another post on May 22, Schiff anticipated a prolonged session in the Senate, indicating that “It’s looking like it’s going to be a very late night here in the Senate — here’s why:” Though he did not elaborate further in the tweet itself, it suggested significant legislative discussions were underway.
Later on May 22, Schiff addressed an incident of violence in Washington DC that appeared to be antisemitic in nature. He conveyed his sorrow for those affected by stating: “As we await more news on what appears to be a targeted act of antisemitic violence…my heart breaks over those who were killed and injured, and their families.” He called for answers and justice following this tragic event.
Adam Schiff was born in Framingham, Massachusetts in 1960 and currently resides in Burbank. A graduate of Stanford University with a BA earned in 1982 and holding a JD from Harvard University obtained in 1985, he has been an influential figure throughout his political career.
