The City of Burbank’s government TV channel, The Burbank Channel, took home two Golden Mike Awards during the Radio & Television News Association of Southern California’s (RTNA) 73rd annual awards ceremony in Universal City on Saturday, March 25, 2023.
The RTNA selected Burbank’s 2021 State of the City special, Burbank: The Town Behind the Tinsel, as Best Entertainment Reporting, 10 minutes or less, and Best Video Editing of a Feature Story, Series, or Special.
The annual presentation featured former Mayor Bob Frutos reporting on the status of the city, Burbank’s historic involvement in the entertainment industry, and a visit to Nickelodeon Animation Studios where the former Mayor even got “slimed”. The special also highlighted the key role that local small businesses play in supporting television and film crews.
