Adam Schiff, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 30th district since 2001, marked the one-year anniversary of the Eaton and Palisades wildfires with a series of statements on social media addressing ongoing recovery challenges and federal funding delays.
On January 8, 2026, Schiff posted: “One year after the devastating Eaton and Palisades fires, we are still waiting for the White House to release federal funding that families desperately need to recover. The fight is far from over, but @SenAlexPadilla and I are working everyday to make sure Californians get the” (January 8, 2026).
Later that day, Schiff wrote: “On the one-year anniversary of the Palisades and Eaton wildfires, I joined @CAgovernor and @SenAlexPadilla to hear from fire survivors about their efforts to recover and rebuild. There is so much more that needs to be done to help Los Angeles communities come back from these” (January 8, 2026).
In a subsequent post on January 8, he criticized proposed changes by federal officials: “The Trump Administration is planning to gut emergency workers and disaster preparation efforts. As we mark one year since some of California’s worst fires, this will make our communities less safe and more prone to repeat disasters.”
Schiff has represented California’s 30th District in Congress since replacing James E. Rogan in 2001. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in the California Senate from 1996 to 2000. Born in Framingham, Massachusetts in 1960 and currently residing in Burbank at age 62, Schiff holds degrees from Stanford University (BA) and Harvard University (JD).
