Adam Schiff, U.S. Senator representing California and former longtime member of the U.S. Congress for California’s 30th district, reflected on his first year in office through a series of posts on social media at the start of 2026.
On January 1, 2026, Schiff posted: “During my first year in office, I have visited nearly half of California’s 58 counties.
Wherever I go, I ask the same question: how can I help?
It is the honor of a lifetime to serve the Golden State in the Senate.
Onto 2026.”
The following day, Schiff addressed environmental concerns and referenced former President Donald Trump’s policies regarding oil spills. On January 2, he wrote: “We have to continue to fight this.
Donald Trump may want to make oil spills great again, but Californians don’t.”
On January 3, Schiff commented on international affairs and Venezuela’s leadership under Nicolás Maduro: “Nicolás Maduro was a thug and an illegitimate leader of Venezuela, terrorizing and oppressing its people for far too long and forcing many to leave the country. But starting a war to remove Maduro doesn’t just continue Donald Trump’s trampling of the Constitution, it further”
Schiff has represented California’s 30th district in Congress since replacing James E. Rogan in 2001 and previously served in the California Senate from 1996 to 2000. He was born in Framingham, Massachusetts in 1960 and currently resides in Burbank at age 62. Schiff graduated from Stanford University with a BA in 1982 and earned his JD from Harvard University in 1985.
