Adam Schiff, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 30th district since 2001, raised concerns on social media about corporate donations to a project associated with Donald Trump and the ethical implications surrounding it.
On December 1, 2025, Schiff posted: “A majority of corporations donating to Donald Trump’s golden ballroom are represented by 3 lobbying firms — firms lobbying the government on a range of issues.
I’m demanding answers on the glaring ethical concerns with this disastrous project that destroyed the East Wing.” He also shared a related link in a follow-up post: “https://t.co/OsBZe7jvcV” (December 1, 2025).
Later that day, Schiff commented on changes in presidential conduct: “Presidents used to portray themselves as average citizens called to duty, not exhibiting a lifestyle of a foreign potentate.
No longer.
Donald Trump is turning the White House into a palace & living the lifestyle of egregiously rich dictators. https://t.co/maSKXmOL00” (December 1, 2025).
Schiff has served in Congress for over two decades after replacing James E. Rogan and previously held office in the California Senate from 1996 to 2000. Born in Framingham, Massachusetts in 1960 and currently residing in Burbank, Schiff holds degrees from Stanford University and Harvard Law School.
