Adam Schiff, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 30th district since 2001, addressed housing affordability and the role of citizens in democracy in a series of posts on December 8, 2025.
In a tweet posted at 03:23 UTC, Schiff stated, “We need real solutions and bold investments to address the housing affordability crisis in America. With the support of @DanielLurie and other great leaders, I introduced the Housing Boom Act to help spark a new housing boom across the country.”
Later that day at 17:23 UTC, Schiff commented on democratic institutions and civic responsibility: “The Supreme Court will not save us. The Congress will not either. Nor the press. The most important players in our democracy are the ones who will preserve it, and they will do so in the next election. And they are the ones who carry the title: citizen.”
At 19:07 UTC, Schiff referenced local leadership efforts alongside colleagues Barbara Lee and Rep. L Simon: “Making housing more affordable and accessible takes stronger leaders at all levels of government. Proud to join @BarbaraLee_CA and @RepLSimon to celebrate the great work being done in Oakland and reflect on how we can kickstart the next housing boom in America.”
Schiff has represented California’s 30th District since defeating James E. Rogan in 2001 after previously serving in the California Senate from 1996 to 2000. Born in Framingham, Massachusetts in 1960, he currently resides in Burbank at age 62. Schiff is an alumnus of Stanford University (BA) and Harvard University (JD).
