Adam Schiff, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 30th district since 2001, has used his social media platform to address concerns regarding former President Donald Trump’s approach to flood control projects in California and broader issues of presidential power.
On October 17, 2025, Schiff wrote: “Let’s be clear: Trump’s attacks on California’s flood control projects started long before this shutdown. The following day, October 18, he referenced the origins of American democracy and resistance to monarchical rule: “Two and a half centuries ago, a handful of farmers and printers and philosophers looked across an ocean at the most powerful man in the world — and said no to a king. Today, in town and cities across America, we again say No Kings. https://t.co/V68gcd9YZH”.
Later on October 18, Schiff thanked those participating in protests or public demonstrations: “Thank you to the many millions who are showing up all over the country to say no to kings. https://t.co/lzS4fzBYct”.
Schiff has served in Congress since replacing James E. Rogan in 2001 and previously held office in the California Senate from 1996 to 2000. Born in Framingham, Massachusetts in 1960, he currently resides in Burbank at age 62. Schiff holds degrees from Stanford University (BA) and Harvard University (JD).
