Adam Schiff, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 30th district since 2001, has recently used his social media platform to criticize former President Donald Trump’s economic and food assistance policies in a series of posts.
On October 31, 2025, Schiff addressed rising consumer costs during Halloween: “Paying more to stock up on candy, or get your new costume for Halloween? You have one man’s spooky economic agenda to blame. I’ll give you a hint, he’s also orange. “
Later the same day, Schiff commented on legal developments related to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) amid a government shutdown: “The law is clear. As USDA’s own staff earlier agreed. And now the law is upheld. Donald Trump cannot withhold SNAP food assistance to inflict even more pain during his shutdown.”
On November 1, 2025, Schiff posted a summary of recent events involving Trump and SNAP: “Trump and SNAP, a timeline: Trump and Republicans massively cut SNAP food assistance in Big Ugly Bill. Trump tries to cut SNAP further during the shutdown. USDA staff say SNAP must be provided. Trump forbids it anyway. Courts say that’s illegal. Trump blames Democrats”
Schiff has served in Congress since replacing James E. Rogan in 2001 and previously served in the California Senate from 1996 to 2000. He was born in Framingham, Massachusetts in 1960 and currently resides in Burbank at age 62. Schiff holds degrees from Stanford University (BA, 1982) and Harvard University (JD, 1985).
