Adam Schiff, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 30th district since 2001, addressed several national issues in a series of posts on his social media account between March 10 and March 11, 2026.
On March 10, Schiff shared a definition, stating: “Useful idiot (noun, plural useful idiots): a naive or credulous person who can be manipulated or exploited to advance a cause or political agenda”.
Later that day, he commented on judicial developments in New Jersey: “A conservative judge just removed three more U.S. attorneys in New Jersey that were serving illegally in their roles, warning their appointments imperil potentially dozens of cases. Trump’s illegal appointments may mean criminals walk free.”
On March 11, Schiff turned his attention to energy policy and its effects on California: “Donald Trump’s war is driving up gas prices. But now he’s using this chaos to lay the groundwork to restart offshore oil drilling in California at the sites of previous spills. Californians do not want more drilling off of our coasts. Renewable energy is the best way forward.”
Schiff has represented California’s 30th District in Congress for over two decades after serving in the California Senate from 1996 to 2000. He was born in Framingham, Massachusetts in 1960 and currently resides in Burbank. Schiff holds degrees from Stanford University and Harvard Law School.
