Adam Schiff, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 30th district since 2001, has recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing national political issues and concerns about rural health care.
On January 16, 2026, Schiff commented on a recent court decision involving the Trump administration and election oversight in California. He wrote, “Yet another failed attempt by the Trump administration to intimidate voters and undermine California’s free and fair elections. The judge was absolutely right. Neither this president nor any other may ‘unilaterally usurp the authority over elections.'”
The following day, January 17, 2026, Schiff addressed challenges facing rural health care systems. In his post he stated, “This may be a hot take here, but there’s nothing ‘cool’ about the rural health care crisis and ongoing workforce shortages or trying to persuade people it can be solved by robots. Not by a long shot.”
On January 18, 2026, Schiff criticized Congressional handling of military actions abroad and referenced a recent Senate vote. He said, “Our servicemembers and their families deserve better than a Congress that lacks the courage to debate the military actions Trump is taking around the globe. With the help of the former isolationist, JD Vance, who cast the tie-breaking vote, Republicans in the Senate abdicated.”
Schiff has represented California’s 30th District since defeating James E. Rogan in 2001. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in the California Senate from 1996 to 2000. Born in Framingham, Massachusetts in 1960 and currently residing in Burbank at age 62, Schiff holds degrees from Stanford University (BA) and Harvard University (JD).
