Adam Schiff, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 30th district since 2001, used his social media platform this week to comment on recent actions by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), reflect on the nation’s founding principles, and offer a lighthearted holiday message.
On February 13, Schiff questioned ICE’s current approach in a post referencing comments made to Senator Andy Kim: “Think ICE is changing its ways? What they told @SenatorAndyKim this week proves they are not backing down from their heartless tactics, including targeting courthouses and people showing up for their immigration appointments.”
The following day, Schiff posted a Valentine’s Day greeting with a reference to California’s nickname: “May your Valentines Day be Golden (state)!” This message was shared on February 14.
Later that same day, Schiff commented on constitutional governance and executive power: ‘”Whether approved by Congress or not” is certainly not “what our Founders desired.” Nor was a king disguised as a rambling fool.’
Schiff has represented California’s 30th District in Congress since 2001 after serving in the California Senate from 1996 to 2000. He succeeded James E. Rogan as the district’s representative. Born in Framingham, Massachusetts in 1960, Schiff now resides in Burbank at age 62. His educational background includes degrees from Stanford University and Harvard Law School.
