Adam Schiff, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 30th district since 2001, has used his social media platform to comment on recent political developments and actions by the executive branch.
On October 21, 2025, Schiff addressed the ongoing government shutdown and its impact on citizens. He wrote, “For three weeks the government has been shut down. For three weeks, people’s health costs have spiked. And the President and Republicans in Congress are having a picnic? It’s no picnic for the American people.”
Later that day, Schiff commented on potential actions by former President Trump regarding military powers. On October 22, 2025, he stated, “Trump may soon try to justify his abuse of our armed forces by invoking the Insurrection Act. Today, I joined my colleagues to advance legislation that would stop him.”
In a subsequent post on October 22, 2025, Schiff referred to reports about restitution payments related to participants in the January 6th events at the Capitol. He posted, “We knew some in the administration wanted to pay ‘restitution’ to the January 6th insurrectionists. Now the president wants the biggest payout for the one who incited it.”
Schiff has represented California’s 30th District since replacing James E. Rogan in 2001 and previously served in the California Senate from 1996 to 2000. Born in Framingham, Massachusetts in 1960 and currently residing in Burbank at age 62, Schiff holds degrees from Stanford University (BA) and Harvard University (JD).
