Adam Schiff, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 30th district since 2001, expressed his views on federal involvement in health care decisions and the treatment of transgender individuals in a series of posts on December 19, 2025.
In his first statement, Schiff wrote, “Health care decisions should be made by families and their doctors — not by the federal government trying to tell people what’s best for them.” (December 19, 2025).
He continued his remarks by stating, “The administration needs to stop using vulnerable kids and members of the trans community as political pawns, and start fixing a broken health care system.” (December 19, 2025).
Addressing recent policy proposals or actions affecting hospitals and clinics, Schiff said, “Stripping funding from hospitals and clinics, or worse, trying to imprison doctors, for providing treatment in the best interests of their patients, is a dangerous government intrusion into the provision of care.” (December 19, 2025).
Schiff has served as a member of Congress since replacing James E. Rogan in 2001. He previously held office in the California Senate from 1996 to 2000. Born in Framingham, Massachusetts in 1960 and currently residing in Burbank at age 62, Schiff holds degrees from Stanford University (BA) and Harvard University (JD).
