Adam Schiff, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 30th district since 2001, posted a series of statements on his Twitter account on August 1, 2025, addressing issues related to funding cuts and their broader implications.
In one post from August 1, Schiff stated: “This is what Donald Trump wants you to forget. America never will.”
Later that day, he addressed the topic of research funding: “Cutting funding for life-saving research has nothing to do with attacking antisemitism. It has everything to do with attacking science, universities, and California. And sadly, it is our health, our knowledge and our economy that will pay the price.” This comment highlights concerns about the potential impact of reduced financial support for scientific research in California.
In a third post dated August 1, Schiff criticized budget decisions affecting public broadcasting: “Donald Trump and Republicans cut funding for PBS to help pay for tax cuts for the wealthy. In doing so, they cut an essential public service that millions of Americans rely on — including many in rural communities. Another casualty of the Trump budget.”
Schiff has served in Congress since replacing James E. Rogan in 2001 and previously served in the California Senate from 1996 to 2000. Born in Framingham, Massachusetts in 1960 and currently residing in Burbank at age 62, Schiff holds degrees from Stanford University (BA) and Harvard University (JD).
