Adam Schiff, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 30th district since 2001, has used his social media platform to criticize former President Donald Trump on several issues ranging from economic policy to foreign affairs and law enforcement actions.
On August 23, 2025, Schiff addressed rising consumer costs as the school year begins, attributing them to Trump-era tariffs: “When you see back-to-school prices at the highest they’ve ever been – you can thank Donald Trump for his on again, off again tariffs.”
A day later, on August 24, 2025, Schiff commented on recent diplomatic developments involving Russia and Ukraine: “One week after Trump rolled out the red carpet for Putin on American soil, Ukraine is no closer to peace. No ceasefire. No additional sanctions against Russia. No new help to allow Ukraine to bring the fight to the Russian invaders.”
On August 25, 2025, Schiff responded to reports of a law enforcement action targeting John Bolton: “When Donald Trump’s FBI raids John Bolton’s home, it’s a signal. To any of his opponents. To all of his detractors. If you stand up to this administration, you could be next. To save our democracy, we must reject these tactics of an aspiring dictator.”
Schiff has represented California’s 30th District in Congress since replacing James E. Rogan in 2001 and previously served in the California Senate from 1996 to 2000. Born in Framingham, Massachusetts in 1960 and currently residing in Burbank at age 62, he holds degrees from Stanford University (BA) and Harvard University (JD).
