Adam Schiff, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 30th district since 2001, has posted a series of statements on social media addressing recent actions by the administration, public health leadership, and federal tariff policies.
On August 29, 2025, Schiff criticized the executive branch’s decision regarding government funding: “With this unlawful rescission of funds, the administration has made it clear that it has no respect for Congress’s constitutional power of the purse. If our GOP colleagues go along with it, they will cede even more power to the executive. And make it clear they are aiming to https://t.co/0bcJIhIN70”.
Later that day, Schiff raised concerns about public health oversight under current leadership: “The CDC has never briefed the HHS Secretary on measles, despite historic outbreaks? Nothing on COVID-19, the pandemic that just killed more than a million Americans? Every day RFK Jr. is in charge of America’s health is a more dangerous day for Americans. https://t.co/2YTjz1GFDQ”.
On August 30, 2025, Schiff addressed trade policy issues involving former President Donald Trump: “Donald Trump’s tariffs are illegal and unconstitutional — an opinion now held and upheld by multiple federal courts. These tariff wars must end, for the sake of every American’s pocketbook. https://t.co/fBcLuHsiwP”.
Schiff’s remarks come amid ongoing debates over executive authority and legislative powers in Washington D.C., as well as persistent scrutiny of public health responses following significant disease outbreaks and the COVID-19 pandemic. The referenced concerns about tariffs follow several court decisions challenging aspects of recent trade policy initiatives.
Schiff was born in Framingham, Massachusetts in 1960 and currently resides in Burbank. He holds degrees from Stanford University (BA) and Harvard University (JD). Before his tenure in Congress began in 2001—when he succeeded James E. Rogan—he served in the California Senate from 1996 to 2000.
