Adam Schiff, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 30th district since 2001, commented on recent congressional actions and the Trump administration’s foreign policy approach in a series of posts on January 9, 2026.
In his first post at 00:00 UTC, Schiff stated, “Today’s vote to advance our resolution to block further military action in Venezuela was significant. We’ll now have a full debate on the Senate floor over the President’s use of U.S. military forces, and a mission that seems to be far more about oil revenues than drugs.”
Later that night at 01:20 UTC, Schiff posted a brief message: “This you? https://t.co/8uUBqPS5Zo https://t.co/hK2k0wXhMx”
At 02:54 UTC, he addressed the Trump administration’s foreign policy regarding Venezuela: “The Trump administration’s belief that we can “run” a country of tens of millions of people, from a distance and without a cost, paid for by that country’s oil, is a mistake we have made before — and dare not make again.”
Schiff has been active in Congress since replacing James E. Rogan in 2001 and previously served in the California Senate from 1996 to 2000. He was born in Framingham, Massachusetts in 1960 and currently resides in Burbank. Schiff graduated from Stanford University with a BA in 1982 and received his JD from Harvard University in 1985.
