Adam Schiff, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 30th district since 2001, posted a series of statements on his Twitter account addressing recent political and institutional developments.
On January 9, 2026, Schiff commented on the recognition of law enforcement officers who defended the Capitol during the January 6th events: “A long overdue recognition of the heavy price that our law enforcement officers paid on January 6th to defend our democracy. This should not have been so hard, or taken so long.”
Later that same day, Schiff criticized the direction of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention under Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s leadership, stating: “Under RFK Jr.’s leadership, the CDC is looking less like an institution that keeps Americans healthy and more like a politically-motivated anti-vax machine. The consequences will be devastating for our kids.”
On January 10, Schiff congratulated Monique Limón on her new role in California’s Senate leadership: “Congratulations to California’s newest Senate President Pro-Tem, @MoniqueLimonCA! I look forward to continuing our work together to bring down costs for Californians, protect our environment, and create more economic opportunity in the Golden State.”
Schiff has represented California’s 30th District in Congress since replacing James E. Rogan in 2001 and previously served in the California Senate from 1996 to 2000. Born in Framingham, Massachusetts in 1960 and currently residing in Burbank at age 62, Schiff graduated from Stanford University with a BA in 1982 and earned a JD from Harvard University in 1985.
