Adam Schiff, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 30th district, posted a series of statements on social media over the weekend and early this week addressing recent protests and the ongoing government shutdown.
On October 18, 2025, Schiff wrote, “From our nation’s capitol to cities across California, millions stood shoulder to shoulder to say that our democracy is worth fighting for, that our voices will not be silent, and that we will not sit back and let a wannabe king take our freedoms. Proud to stand with you.”
The following day, October 19, he added, “This weekend, we said ‘hell no’ to kings, and reminded the nation and the world what patriotism looks like.”
On October 20, Schiff addressed the ongoing government shutdown in another post: “This Trump government shutdown is not like his last one. That was about building a wall that Mexico was supposed to pay for. This is about raising health care costs for millions of Americans. It’s time to end the shutdown and fix the Republican-made health care crisis.”
Schiff has served in Congress since 2001 after replacing James E. Rogan. He previously served in the California Senate from 1996 to 2000. Born in Framingham, Massachusetts in 1960 and currently residing in Burbank at age 62, Schiff holds degrees from Stanford University (BA) and Harvard University (JD).
