Adam Schiff, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 30th district since 2001, recently addressed several key issues in a series of posts on his social media account. The posts highlighted the importance of press freedom, the impact of artificial intelligence on the workforce, and the value of investments in education.
On May 3, 2026, Schiff marked World Press Freedom Day by emphasizing the role of journalism in democracy: “Free and independent media is essential to democracy and ensuring that the powerful are held to account. In the face of increasingly insidious efforts to undermine basic facts and truths, this public service is all the more important. On World Press Freedom Day, we recognize” (May 3, 2026).
Later that day, Schiff discussed bipartisan legislative efforts aimed at preparing students and workers for changes brought by artificial intelligence: “AI is reshaping industries and our economy, and it’s crucial that young people and our workforce are equipped to succeed in this landscape. Proud to introduce a bipartisan bill with @SenatorRounds to ensure students and educators have the resources they need to harness the” (May 3, 2026).
The following day, he acknowledged teachers’ contributions while calling for increased investment in education: “Teachers are putting in the hard work to ensure the next generation has the skills to keep changing the world. I spoke with @AFTunion and their National President Randi Weingarten about the need for greater investments in education to guarantee students have every opportunity” (May 4, 2026).
Schiff’s recent focus aligns with his long-standing commitment as a legislator. He has represented California’s 30th District since replacing James E. Rogan in Congress in 2001 after previously serving in the California Senate from 1996 to 2000. Born in Framingham, Massachusetts in 1960 and currently residing in Burbank at age 62, Schiff holds degrees from Stanford University (BA) and Harvard University (JD).
