Adam Schiff, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 30th district since 2001, posted several statements on October 16, 2025, addressing media freedom, airport video broadcasts, and the ongoing government shutdown.
In his first post on October 16 at 01:00 UTC, Schiff commented on recent developments in press freedom: “Media organizations from across the political spectrum are finally standing up to this administration’s attempts to muzzle their reporting. This kind of collective action is critical to preserving our First Amendment.”
Later that day at 02:50 UTC, Schiff criticized federally mandated videos being played in airports nationwide. He stated: “The blatantly political videos being forced on airports across the country are not only an abuse of taxpayer dollars, but they violate the law. I’m joining @SenBlumenthal and @SenJackReed to demand DHS take down these videos immediately.”
Addressing the ongoing government shutdown in a third post at 13:18 UTC, Schiff wrote: “This will happen if Republicans refuse to work with Democrats on a deal to end this government shutdown. It’s what I’m fighting to prevent.”
Schiff has represented California’s 30th district in Congress since replacing James E. Rogan in 2001 and previously served in the California Senate from 1996 to 2000. Born in Framingham, Massachusetts in 1960 and currently residing in Burbank, Schiff holds degrees from Stanford University (BA) and Harvard University (JD).
